The 6 tips to keep your leather bag "always perfect"

Los 6 tips para que tu bolso de piel se mantenga "always perfect"

It’s true that, generally speaking, your bag doesn’t require special care like silk blouses or those dreamy cashmere sweaters that are so ideal yet so delicate. But what is true is that the more you take care of things, the longer they last (total mom phrase 😍), and that’s why today we’re sharing 6 simple little tricks to keep your bag in top shape.

1- Store your bag the right way

When you’re not going to use it, keep it in a cotton bag or in a cover.

It may seem silly, but we tend to store bags inside each other or hang them carelessly, and if at least they’re inside a cover, we avoid them rubbing or scratching against the hardware of other accessories.

Also, if it’s during a wardrobe change, we’ll prevent it from getting dusty during those hibernation months 🤣

2- Protect it if it’s raining

If you’re going out with your suede bag and the day looks cloudy, protect it with waterproof spray (sold in shoe stores and repair shops) or spray it with a little hairspray you have at home—hairspray acts as a fixer and protects it a bit.

In fact, we recommend that before you use it for the first time, you spray a little to set the suede and avoid stains on the first day. But if this still happens, tip no. 3 will interest you...

3- Clean stains on time

Stains on your suede bag usually don’t have an easy solution, but the best thing you can do is brush the stain once it has dried (without delaying too much) with a soft-bristle brush (like the one used for shoes).

4- Keep it away from gels or liquids

Unfortunately, hydroalcoholic gels have come into our lives to stay, at least for a while, and that’s why we must warn that when you put gel on your hands, everything you touch afterward may get damaged. Be it your jewelry, your watch, your bag’s hardware, or even the leather itself. So we recommend being careful when touching your leather bags if you don’t want them to lose their color quickly.

5- It needs hydration

Just like our skin, over time your leather bag needs an extra boost of hydration, and for that we have the best-kept secret passed down from generation to generation: the NIVEA blue tin cream 🤫.

Take a cotton cloth and spread a small amount of cream on the areas where you see the leather has dried or started to crack (we’re talking about bags that have been with you for a long time) and let it absorb. Your bag will regain its shine and look beautiful.

*This also works for leather wallets and purses!!

6- Always wear it with pride

And last but not least (and actually the most meaningful), your bag will look more beautiful the more you use it. This is a truth we sometimes forget...

But a bag accompanies us in our daily life, it helps us be the person we want the world to recognize, it has been part of unforgettable moments, funny anecdotes, and stories we’ll never forget...

So, if you’re the kind who leaves your bag on the floor, carries it so full it’s about to burst, or always forgets to close it—who cares? Life is short and meant to be enjoyed. That’s who you are, and that’s how your bag represents you.
